Robert Pigg

Robert Loyd Pigg, 91, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center in Albemarle.

Robert was born October 25, 1931 in North Carolina to the late Robert Lee Pigg and the late Minnie B. Pigg.
He was also preceded in death by son, Danny Eldridge Pigg, and brother, George Washington Pigg.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 am at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle Lefler Chapel, officiated by Pastor Drew Edmisten. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory located at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

Robert was a wonderful husband, father,grandfather,and great grandfather.  He was a deacon at East Albemarle Baptist Church.  He was also an avid guitar player, and was part of a group known as the Old Timers that played at nursing homes.  In his free time, Robert enjoyed vegetable gardening. He also enjoyed watching sports, particularly NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves.  Robert loved to travel to the mountains and to the beach with his family, sometimes both in the same day.  He also visited many other places such as New Orleans, South Dakota and Pennsylvania.  Robert served in the United States Army from 52' to 54' and spent over a year in Korea.  Robert was known for always having said "I'm ready to go home" and now he is truly at home with his Lord and Savior.

Survivors include wife, Ozell Pigg of Albemarle, NC, daughter, Kim (Ron) Casteen of New London, NC, son, Steven (Rita) Ray Pigg of Lexington, NC, sister, Jean Katherine Clark of Concord, NC; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
