Robert Dale Sossamon, 65 years of age, of Stanfield, won his battle with pancreatic cancer Sunday, December 6, 2015, surrounded by his family's laughter and tears at his home.
"Poppy" was born October 29, 1950, in Concord to the late Edd Sossamon and the late Bessie Belk Sossamon. He also was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Nicole Sossamon, also of Stanfield.
Blessed with an easy smile and laughter that would fill any room, he leaves a legacy of love to his wife, Kathy, his son Jeff, of Columbia, Mo., his daughter, Dia Dulin and her husband Jamey of Locust, N.C. and his son, Brad and wife, Jamie of Fayetteville, N.C.
He also is survived by a granddaughter, Brianna and her husband, B.J., two grandsons, Caleb and Grayson, and granddaughters Savannah, Haley, Emma and Katelyn.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a service following at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, at Carolina Presbyterian Church, 406 Renee Ford Road, Locust, N.C.
