Robert Suther

Robert William Suther, Sr., 91 years of age, of Concord, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at Universal Healthcare in Concord.

Bob was born June 20, 1924 in Cabarrus County to the late John Hubert Suther and the late Ida Mae Suther. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Morgan Suther; and brothers, John H. Suther, Jr. and Joseph A. Suther.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 am - 11:00 am, Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bob Sturge. The burial will be at Mill Grove United Methodist Cemetery, 13659 Hwy. 601 S., Midland. Military honors will be conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard.

He is survived by his sons, John "Chip" Suther and wife Bonnie of Mooresville, Robert "Robin" Suther, Jr. and wife Nicole of Midland; daughter, Dawn S. McHale and husband Shane of Concord; grandchildren, John and Andrew Suther, Katie Suther, and Blaine McHale; and sister-in-law, Martha Little of Concord.

Bob was a graduate of the Spencer School of Watchmaking, and was a longtime employee of J. Howard Williams Company of Monroe and Wooten Jewelers of Concord. Bob loved nature. He was a gardener, beekeeper, and raised homing pigeons. He was also a skilled woodworker. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
