Robert Lee Varra joined his beloved wife, Romona, and precious daughter, Micala, Thursday, the 5th of January at his residence in Harrisburg, NC, comforted by his daughter, Laural, and son-in-law, Kirk.
Robert was born in 1931 in Denver, Colorado to Michael James Varra and Myrtle Marie Alanta Portneuf. He lived most of is his life in Florida, but relocated to live with his daughter in North Carolina three years ago. Robert was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He was a strong and great man. He worked hard providing for his family as a Manufacturing Manager for Lockheed Martin. Among his several accomplishments there, he managed the construction of the monorail system for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Robert was very proud of his Native Canadian heritage. He was the oldest Elder in the Odanak Band of the First Nation Abenaki in Quebec, Canada.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Laural, Dee, Jo and Myrtle; his son-in-law and caregiver, Kirk; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
