Robert Yates

Robert Eugene “Bob” Yates, age 73, of 4518 Ranchway Drive, Concord, formerly of Harrisburg passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. The family will receive friends at Pitts Baptist Church 140 Pitts School Road Concord on Saturday, November 12th from 1 until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm, with Rev. Scott Davis and Rev. Charles Efird officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. Robert was born on September 17, 1938 in Cabarrus County, to the late William Artley “WA” and Helen Bennett Yates. He was also preceded in death by one brother Sonny Yates and two sisters Iva Hurst, and Mary Ledford. He was a railroad clerk for Norfolk Southern Railroad in Charlotte. Robert was a member of Pitts Baptist Church and a former member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, North Campus. He was noted for his quick wit, his knowledge of sports and his love for family and friends-but his greatest passion of the last 15 years was his love for understanding and living out God’s word. Robert is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann Barringer Yates of the home; son, Anthony Yates and wife Patti of Harrisburg; sister, Linda Yates Tate of Concord; numerous nieces and nephews.
