Roberta "Bert" Nevius Sessions, 72, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
Roberta was born May 24, 1949 in Orange, New Jersey to the late Edwin M. Nevius and the late Eva Manning Nevius. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rembert Motley Sessions; and sister, Eve Lynn Nevius Sessions.
Bert was a lifelong educator, having taught both English and Drama at Garinger High School for almost 30 years. She was an avid reader and devoted fan of Stephen King. Much to the chagrin of her Tar Heel loving sons, she was a passionate fan of the Duke University men's basketball team. If you visited Bert at her home, you would find some tennis match playing on her television all day, every day. Bert was known for many things: speaking her mind, correcting your grammar, her endless generosity, but most of all, her tireless devotion to her two sons.
A memorial service in celebration of Bert's life will held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. Webcasting for the Celebration of Life will start at 1:45 pm at the following link: http://video.ibm.com/channel/drygeSYpxX7
Survivors include son, Tally Rembert Sessions of Astoria, NY; son, Zachary Edwin Sessions of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Polly MeGee Weaver and Josie Belle Sessions, both of Charlotte, NC.
