Rodger Mark Austin

Rodger Mark Austin, 60, of Locust passed away unexpectedly Monday January 6, 2025, at his home in Locust. 

Rodger was born September 17, 1964 in North Carolina to the late Herman Earl Austin and the late Ruby Frances Austin. 

Survivors include wife, Dawnna Michelle Austin of Locust, NC, Daughter, Tiffani Austin, son, Christian Austin and wife Alishia, and Granddaughters Hadleigh and Oaklee; Brothers Wayne Austin and wife Joy, and Kenneth Austin and wife Angie.  

Rodger was a proud family man who did everything he could to provide for his family and set an admirable example of unconditional love that will remain with us all the days of our lives. Rodger was the most selfless man you could ever meet with an infectious smile and laugh that lives forever in our hearts. He was a proud veteran of 20 years in the navy following his father and grandfather’s footsteps of a life of dedication and love for his country.  After his time in the Navy he did any job he could to provide until he found his next career at Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department where he dedicated the last 12 years of his life. Rodger was a strong, prideful, faithful and loving father/husband/brother/son/grandfather who will be dearly missed by everyone he came in contact with. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, Monday January 13, 2025 at Greater Life Church – Locust where he attended 103 Locust Ave, Locust, NC 28097 . The funeral service will be on Monday at 12:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Daniel Haskett . Burial will follow at the Charlotte Memorial Gardens at 7632 Hood Road, Charlotte 28215.
