Rodney Huneycutt

Rodney at age 66, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 22, 2021.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at 3:00 pm, at Canton Baptist Church, 24615 Endy Rd, Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Delane Burris and Rev. Phil McRae. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Rodney graduated from North Stanly High School in 1973 where he served as President for the FFA North Stanly Chapter as well as serving as President of the Rocky River FFA Federation.  He was co-owner of Huneycutt Brothers and Huneycutt Pig Farms in the Millingport community.  He was a lifetime member of Canton Baptist Church, where he participated in Baptist Men’s Group and other church activities.  He was a loving husband and father of three sons.

His love of farming can be seen as you travel through the Millingport Community and see his meticulously planted crops.  Rodney is best known for creating the “Millingport Christmas Star” high atop the farm’s 110-foot grain elevator. A light he can now see from the heavens above. His legacy will live on for decades through the lives he cultivated and the crops he planted.

He was born to Dollie Marie Tucker Huneycutt and the late Melvin Kenneth Huneycutt.  His is survived by his loving wife, Janet Maher Huneycutt and 3 sons, Robert "Robbie" Kenneth Huneycutt, Eric William Huneycutt, Griffin Daniel Huneycutt (Rosalyn McRae); granddaughter, Becklyn Leigh Huneycutt; brothers, Michael (Pattie) Huneycutt, Kevin (Ann) Huneycutt, Todd (SanDee) Huneycutt; sister, Cemita (Joe) Gibbs; sister-in-law, Cathy Vernon; 17 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews.
