Rodney Neil Mills, 78, of Concord, went into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at home with family by his side.
Neil was born June 16, 1944, in Concord to the late Homer and Flora Ree Mills. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Mack and Roy Mills; and granddaughter, Faith Brooks.
Neil owned and operated Mills Machine Shop on Academy Avenue in Concord for 50 years. There was nothing he couldn't make or fix. Neil loved the Lord and was a member, greeter, usher and former deacon at West Concord Baptist Church. Neil was a former member of Wilmar Park Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Neil enjoyed treasure-hunting by metal detecting and panning for gold. He also enjoyed meeting his breakfast buddies at Bojangles, nearly every day. Most of all, Neil was a loving husband, dad, Paw Paw and uncle. His two most favorite people (Levi & Ezra) called him "Ole Paw Paw." Neil will be forever loved and dearly missed.
Survivors include beloved wife of 58 years, Danna Barrier Mills of the home; daughter, DaNeil (Robert) Brooks of Concord; granddaughter, Lora (Kyle) Thomas of Concord; great-grandsons, Levi and Ezra Thomas; and several nephews and nieces.
