Roger Milton Clontz, 63 years of age, of Monroe, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center - Main in Charlotte with his family by his side.
Roger was born March 20, 1951 in Union County to the late Thomas Bridger Clontz and the late Mary Lou Mullis Clontz. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Billy Clontz.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Russell McWhorter, will be at 3 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow at Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery, 3606 Drake Road, Midland. At other times the family will be gathering at the home.
He is survived by wife of 17 years, Gillie Deese Clontz of the home; son, Daniel Roger Clontz; daughter, Karisa Deese; three brothers, Larry Clontz and wife Ann of Oakboro, Ronnie Clontz and wife Karen of Monroe, and Gerald Clontz and wife Amy of Midland; four sisters, Diane Clontz McLain and husband Don of Midland, Doris Clontz Little and husband Ronnie of New Salem, Vicki Clontz Eudy and husband Larry of Oakboro, Nadine Clontz Tucker and husband Henry of Monroe; brother-in-law, Gary Lee Deese of Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger loved to work in the garden, and blue grass music. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
