Roger Dale Hartsell

Roger Dale Hartsell, 75, of Oakboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Carolinas ContinueCARE Hospital at Pineville with his wife by his side. Roger battled many years of health problems. The last four months of Roger's illness, he never gave up. 

Roger was born June 29, 1949, in Cabarrus County to the late Houston Archibald Hartsell and the late Betty Sue Hartsell. He was also preceded in death by brother-in-law HB Morgan Jr.

Roger was the owner and operator of his own electrical contracting company, R-Co. Roger was a member and treasurer of Harmony Baptist Church of Stanfield where he dearly loved his church family. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his Gold Wing group (Sunbelt Wings). He was past president of North Carolina Gold Wing Club and past vice president of the National Gold Wing Club. He liked to fish, hunt, spend time with his friends. Roger enjoyed holidays and special occasions with his family. He was always willing to help someone in need. Anybody that knew Roger knew that he had a dry sense of humor and loved to joke. He could always come up with a quick comeback. Roger will be forever loved and greatly missed. 

Survivors include beloved wife of 46 years, Mable Hartsell of Oakboro; daughter, Carol and husband; 2 grandchildren; brother, Jimmy (Belinda) Hartsell of Locust; sisters, Kathy Barbee of Locust and Cindy (Doug) McDougal of Lancaster, SC; brother's-in-law, Lon "Toby" Furr of St. Pauls, NC, and Charles (Frances) Barbee of Midland; sister-in-law, Brenda Morgan of Stanfield; nieces, Michelle, Charlesie, and Donna (Jim) Huneycutt; nephews, Jimmy Hartsell Jr., Shelley Barbee, Wade (Mandi) Summers, and Tim (Sandy) Summers.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm, Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Larry Maner. Burial will follow at Oakboro Cemetery, 1397 North Main Street, Oakboro.
