Ronald James Notor

Ronald James Notor, 90, of Stanfield passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte. Mr. Notor had been managing treatment for prostate cancer for years before complications arose suddenly.

Mr. Notor joins his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 68 years Betty Lou Bowman, who preceded him in death by 3 years. His lifelong passions were his dear companion and golf. The two enjoyed years of golfing at Piney Point Golf Club and various courses throughout the Carolinas after his retirement as a proud Teamster trucker with over 3 million miles safe driving for Consolidated Freightways. 

Mr. Notor, who grew up on a Pennsylvania farm, was a talented athlete in his youth and tried out for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He remained an avid sports fan throughout life and enjoyed friendly wagering with his son on weekend football games.

He loved and took great pride in his home in the woods outside Stanfield where he enjoyed tending the lawn, watching the birds, and hosting visits from his daughters Robin Hayden and Kristy Notor and granddaughters Jane Hayden and Olivia Hayden from Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington DC. In his later years, Mr. Notor lived at his home with his devoted son, Jay Notor, who was with his father when he passed. To the amazement and delight of his children, Mr. Notor was naturally adept at computers, cellphones and tablets. In his last years, he was also a regular attendee of Love’s Chapel Methodist Church and greatly appreciated his church friends there.

The family is planning a private memorial.
