Ronald Clay Thompson, 60, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 29, 1953 in Stanly County to the late James Clay Thompson and Ann Thompson-Chappell . He was also preceded in death by his brother, Doug Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM, on Monday, March 17, 2014 at First Assembly of God in Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM officiated by Rev. Bob Gruver, Rev. Joe Smith, and Rev. George Mullins. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Cynthia Jones Thompson of Albemarle; daughter, Rebekah (Keith) Carlyon of Tega Cay, SC; son, Phillip (fiancee, Lauren Makela) Thompson of Kannapolis; mother, Ann (Ted) Thompson-Chappell of Mt. Gilead; brothers, Rick Thompson of Badin and Steve Thompson of New London; five grandchildren, Graham Tucker, Sophie Tucker, Sarah Carlyon, Matthew Carlyon, Brentley Thompson.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the many health care services, workers, and to Dr. Joseph Hunter whom over the years have provided such excellent care.
