Ronald James "Ron" Williams, age 70, of Concord, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 surounded by his lovng family. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Saturday, June 15, from 11:00am until 12:00pm. The memorial service oficiated by Daniel Jones of Chicago. will be held in Hartsell Funeral Chapel at 12:00pm. Mr. Williams was born on July 21, 1942, to the late Isaac Williams and the late Helen Williams. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ann Miller Williams of Concord; a son, Todd Williams and wife Chrisine of Appleton, Wisconsin; a grandson, Mitchell Bruckmoser and two great grandson, Landon and Cameron Bruckmoser of River Falls. Ron graduated from Concord High School in 1965 and continued his education at UNC Chapel Hill. Ron and Ann were married during his Junior year at Carolina. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. While at UNC he worked under the guidance of Mr. Riley, his Chemistry professor. During this time he was instrumental in the development of a compound used in the making of carpet yarn. His career path led him to Hercules, Inc. in Wilmington, Delaware. After 17 years at Hercules, he and his family moved to Marietta, Georgia to work for Kimberly Clark. He developed dyeable polypropylene fiber. During his career at Kimberly Clark he was Business Manager for the developing of recycling technology. Ron was a faithful servant of the Lord and served at churches he and his family attended in the many areas they lived. He loved music and sang in several choirs. He served as a Decon and Sunday School. Ron had a passion for handmade lighthouses that he proudly displayed. He was devoted to his beloved UNC Chapel Hill basketball and football team. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HS Cabarrus Animal Rescue, PO Box 6076, Concord, NC 28027. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Williams family.
