Rosalyn Greene

Rosalyn Lorene Hartsell Greene passed away peacefully Saturday, February 6, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. A Celebration of Her Life will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Hwy 200, Concord. The service will be officiated by Rev. Alan Thompson. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home Wednesday, February 10th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis following the service Thursday.

Rosalyn was born in Cabarrus County, the youngest daughter of Robert Lee Hartsell and Bessie Jeanette Boger Hartsell. She was married February 14, 1941 to Pliney Oscar Greene, Sr. He was employed at Cannon Mills. Rosalyn attended Bethel High School, graduating Valedictorian of her Class of 1934. She attended Appalachian State University, graduating in 1938. Rosalyn was a lifetime career teacher in the Cabarrus and Kannapolis City School Systems. She belonged to numerous education, historical and professional committees and organizations including; the National Educational Association, The North Carolina Education Association, Alpha Delta Kappa (Honorary Teacher's Sorority), The United Methodist Women, United Daughters of the Confederacy, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Order of the Eastern Star, having held the position of District Deputy.

Rosalyn was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, serving as pianist for 29 years and Chair of the St. Paul's Historical Committee. She loved genealogy and was the reference contact for many historical groups and societies. She was beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Pliney O. (Bud) Greene, Jr., his wife, Karen of Pinehurst; her grand-daughter, Cynthia and her husband, Chris Ragona and their two children, Charlie and Isabella of Barrington, RI; and was a very special Aunt to nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, and her great-great grand nephew.


Predeceasing her were her sisters, Lenna Marie Hartsell Lefler, Elizabeth Hartsell, Bessie Hartsell Barringer; her brothers, Robert Parker Hartsell, Sr., John Sharpe Hartsell, Charles Lee Hartsell and Harold Wesley Hartsell, Sr.
