Rose Janette Barnes, 78 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle.
Mrs. Barnes was born August 12, 1938 in Stanly County to the late Leonard Alexander Hitchcock and the late Lillian Wright Hitchcock. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kenneth Barnes, Sr.; sisters, Louise Summerset, Beatrice Bartrip, Mildred Mauldin Morefield., and Helen Holt; brothers, Warren Hitchcock, Carlyle Hitchcock , Ralph Hitchcock, and Harrold Hitchcock.
Janette had a special fondness for animals such as horses and cats. She was a Purchasing Director at Pfeiffer University for over 20 years.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM , Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle . The funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church at 44118 Highway 740 in New London. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include son, Robert Kenneth Barnes, Jr. and wife Maxine of New London; and grandchildren, Kenneth "Kenny" Mac Barnes and Robert "Robby" Watson Barnes; and sister, Lois Ward
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 225, N. Michigan Ave., FL. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
