Rose Mullis

Rose Harwood Mullis, 81, of Concord, was called home by her heavenly Father Friday, January 17, 2020.

Rose was born September 3, 1938 in Mount Pleasant to the late Harold and Evelyn Harwood.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by beloved husband, Buddy Mullis; son, Randy Harwood Mullis; grandson, Andrew Sides; brothers, Timothy and Johnny Harwood; and son-in-law, Adam Henderson, Jr.

Rose married the love of her life, Buddy Mullis, in 1955 and together they raised 5 children plus 2 of her younger brothers in Midland. With 7 children it seemed like there was always a “ballgame” at the Mullis’ house and family was clearly the most important thing in her life.  Rose loved unconditionally and was always fun to be around. She had a great sense of humor and loved to play practical jokes.  She enjoyed cooking and taught each of her children how to cook.

In 1982 she and Buddy started a successful textile company, Vantage Trims, and together they operated it until Buddy’s passing.

At her current home, Morningside Assisted Living Center, she was affectionally known as “Miss Morningside” and always had a kind word and smile for everyone. Rose had a passion for life and will be missed by all who knew her. Our family is standing on the promises of God and know that Rose is filled with the absolute Joy of Heaven and has Everlasting Life.

Survivors include daughter, Cindy Sides and husband, Keith, of Concord; daughter, Tammy Henderson of Midland; son, Danny Mullis and wife, Lia, of Locust; daughter, Sherry Sparks and husband, Charles, of Cross, SC; grandchildren, Matt Sides, Brooke Sides, Quint Mullis, Dan Mullis, Jake Mullis, Lindsey Rose Mullis, Ricky Furr, Dustin Shoe, Dakota Shoe, and Deanna Whitley; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Cora Mae Edwards; brother, Abbie Harwood; and beloved dog, Anna.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.   Burial will follow the service at the West Stanly Baptist Church Cemetery, Albemarle.
