Rose Thomas

Rose Elaine Burris Thomas, 67 years of age, of Polkton, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Elaine was born August 18, 1948 in Stanly County to the late Bradford Bradshaw Burris and Opal Brock Burris. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Burris.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the church sanctuary, officiated by nephew Rev. Tony Thomas. The burial will be in the church cemetery.

In addition to her mother, Opal Burris of Mt. Gilead, she is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years, David Calvin Thomas of Polkton; son, Shawn Burris and wife Ashley of Indian Trail; daughter, Laura Hogsett and husband Tracy of Jefferson, SC; siblings, Janell Cranford, Lois Morgan, Gary Burris, Judy Vanhoy, Sue Griffin, and Janice Abraham; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

Elaine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She was a giving and selfless person. Elaine was a Godly woman, who lived by her faith. She loved the beach, and enjoyed spending time studying the Bible. Her laughter and hugs will be missed by all who knew her.
