Rosetta Layne

Rosetta Maxine Ellis Layne, 88 years of age, formerly of Huntington, WV passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at her home in Concord, NC.

Rosetta was born September 10, 1926 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Frank Ellis and the late Mabel Green. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Velma D. Layne, II; two sons, Frank and Nelson Layne; grandson, Stuart Layne; and brothers, Frank and Jerry Ellis.

The graveside service will be at 1 pm on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Spring Hill Cemetery, 1427 Norway Ave., Huntington, officiated by Pastor Reginald Hill of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Velma Layne, III and wife Robbie of Huntington, WV and Brett Layne of Huntington, WV; daughter, Francine Ozoigbo of Concord, NC; daughters in law, Dacene Layne of Ft. Washington, MD and Zandra Layne of Upper Marlboro, MD; sister, Shirley Ellis of Atlanta, GA; brother, Ronald Ellis of Lima, OH; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.

She retired from Marshall University, and was a faithful member of Young Chapel AME Church.
