Roy Helms Sr

Mr. Roy Andrew Helms Sr., 73, of Concord, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis. He was born on July 11, 1937 in Cabarrus County to the late Charles Helms and the late Bessie Lee Dennis Helms. He was a member of the Rock Hill Masonic Lodge # 111 AF & AM and an Oasis Shriner. He was a truck driver with Overnite Transportation for 34 years. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 9:00 until 10:30 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel. He is survived by his wife, Theresa G. Helms, of the home; sons, Roy Helms Jr., of Rock Hill, SC, Devin Andrew Helms and Michael Andrew Helms, both of Concord; daughters, Rehna Loflin, of Rock Hill, SC and Yvonne Wood, of Corbin, KY; brothers, Hugh Helms, of Indian Trail and Ronnie Helms, of Rock Hill, SC; sister, Brenda Petrea, of Indian Trail; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brother Robert Helms.
