Roy Sisson

June 26, 1947 — July 31, 2022

Roy Travis Sisson, 75, passed away on July 31, 2022, at his home in Stallings, NC, surrounded by his loving family and his niece singing him into heaven.

Travis was born to Ulice and Mildred Sisson in Tennessee in 1947. Travis is survived and missed by his children, Carol, Roy Travis Jr “Troy” and Brandi; grandchildren, Eden, Micah, Jeffery, Skyler, and Liam; great grandchildren, Mikaela, and Eloise; siblings, Bobby, Glenn, Jeri, and Cathy as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was dearly loved and respected by all who knew him. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Rhonda as well as his parents Mildred Ruth and Ulice.

In 1981, Travis married the love of his life, Rhonda, and together they built a blended family with three children. For his career he owned and operated a successful auto electric warehouse business for over thirty years in Charlotte, NC. He especially enjoyed meeting with his many customers all over the state. Rhonda and various other family members helped make Ace Mid-Eastern a thriving family enterprise, which was a great source of pride for all involved.

Travis lived his life to the fullest by always working, spending time with family, or serving the Lord. His hobbies included: restoring classic cars, traveling, and hunting and preserving gameland. Upon retirement he and Rhonda moved to Midland and pursued the dream of owning land, built a beautiful, welcoming home, and raised cattle. Travis was a faithful member and servant of his church. He enjoyed helping others as evidenced by his work for Red Bird Mission in Kentucky, the flood victims in eastern NC, and the many wheelchair ramps he constructed. When he took a moment to rest, he was sure to be watching westerns, as he was a cowboy at heart, or playing with his beloved dogs: Sarge, Bunny, and Olive.

If anyone asks how I want to be remembered, please say the following about me: “That I was a good guy and enjoyed helping others and that I loved my family and friends.”

Memorial services will be held at Bethel Church, Midland, NC, on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to the Red Bird Mission in his memory either online www.rbmission.org or to Red Bird Mission, 70 Queendale Center, Beverly KY 40913-9607.
