Ruby Austin

Ruby Camilia Lowder Austin, 91 years of age, formerly of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at her home in Gold Hill.

Ruby was born November 23, 1923 in Stanly County to the late John Houston Lowder and the late Eula Catherine Poplin Lowder. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John R. Austin; sisters, Hattie Arey, Puah Whitley, Dora Lee Harwood; and brothers, Wilson, Marshall, and Clarence Lowder.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Friday, August 21, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Fred Carpenter. The burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruby was a very special and caring person. She loved her family and had many friends. She helped them all whenever they needed. She loved her little dog, and always had lots of hummingbirds in the spring and summer. She also enjoyed baking.
