Ruby Black

Ruby Elizabeth Black, 91, of Indian Trail, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at her residence surrounded by family.

Mrs. Black was born September 7, 1929 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to the late Lester James Mullis and the late Cleonis Pigg Mullis.  She was also preceded in death by husband, Jeffrey Luther Black; brothers, Vasker, Lance, and Basil Mullis; sister, Audie Ferguson.

Ruby was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life was a shining example of her servant’s heart. She never met a stranger, spending her days taking care of those around her and spreading the word of God everywhere she went. Ruby’s love for Jesus was the most precious gift she had, and she did not let a day go by without letting those she came in contact with know that they could have the same gift.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, January 21, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The inurnment will take place at Clear Creek Baptist Church at a later date.

Survivors include daughters, Sandra Black, and Deborah Blair (Tim) both of Indian Trail, NC; grandchildren, Jeff Wallace (Carla), Tracy Baucom (Devin), Nicky Wallace (Shelly), and Talia Blair; great grandchildren, Timothy Wallace (Jacqueline), Rebekah Baucom, Jordan Wallace, Emmaline Wallace, and Mikayla Baucom; brother, Brooks Mullis (Catherine); and many special nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clear Creek Baptist Church, 9015 Ferguson Road Charlotte, NC 28227.
