Ruby Gainey

Ruby Parker Gainey, age 89, of 1317 Hill Street Extension, Albemarle, passed away October 8, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Sunday from 6 to 8. Funeral service will be in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel on Monday at 2 PM. Rev. Wayne Richardson and Rev. Reece English will officiate. Burial will be in Canton Baptist Church Cemetery. Born in Stanly County, NC on June 4, 1921, she is the daughter of the late Henry Marvin Parker and the late Maude Burleson Parker. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Banks Hinson and her second husband, Bruce Gainey. She was owner of Hwy 73 Seafood, Albemarle and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was also a board member of Albemarle City Council from 1983 to 1987. She is survived by her son Sonny Hinson of Albemarle; sisters, Hazel Phillips and Helen Smith both of Albemarle; grandson, Banks Hinson III of Albemarle and many nieces and nephews.
