Ruby Tucker

Ruby Flora Williams Tucker, 89, of Hickory, formerly of Locust, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at Grace Heights Rehabilitation Center of Morganton. Mrs. Tucker was born May 23, 1922, in Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Davis Ritchie Tucker, in 2007; her father, Julius Franklin Williams; and her mother, Carrie Isabelle Williams. Mrs. Tucker enjoyed being involved in education as a librarian and a teacher assistant. Mrs. Tucker will lie in state from 3 - 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral will begin at 4:00 in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Midland, officiated by Elder Larry Austin. Burial will follow in the Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery of Monroe. Survivors include her sons, Richard Tucker of Stanfield, Jerry Tucker of Hendersonville, and Charles Tucker of Mint Hill; daughters, Linda Burkeholder of Charlotte and Janice Dollar of Hickory; grandchildren, Jennifer Chamley, Robert Tucker, Jessica Dollar, London Tucker, Nathan Tucker, Olivia Tucker, and Krista VonHoffmann; and great-grandchildren, Madison Chamley and Christopher Chamley.
