Ruel Speight

Ruel William Speight, 92 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Speight was born October 12, 1925 in Stanly County to the late Charlie William Speight and the late Bertha Mae Speight. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Burris Speight; brothers, Ray Speight and Gad Speight; and sister, Bernice Burleson.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM - 2:45 PM, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 17236 Frog Pond Road, Oakboro, NC. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM officiated by Rev. Wayne Bennett and Rev. Phillip Hunter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include son, David (Chris) Speight of Oakboro; daughters, Susan (Tommy) Furr of Locust; and Kathy (Kenny) Blackwelder of Stanfield; grandchildren, Brooke (Bryan) Tucker, Meredith (Chadley) Huneycutt, Kristy Blackwelder, Brad (Andrea) Furr, William (Dora) Speight, and Keri (Nate) Craig; great-grandchildren, Bevan Tucker, Brylie Tucker, Logan Molatch, Maverick Craig, Jaxon Speight, and Bryanna Madera-Aquino; brothers, CJ Speight, Earl Speight, and Keith Speight; sisters, Blanche Almond and Helen Teeter.
