Russell Slocum

Russell Earl Slocum, 78, of Concord, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his home.

Russell was born February 7, 1939 in Kingston Township, Pennsylvania, but spent most of his early years in Baltimore, Maryland. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Stuart and Adeline Russell, brothers Donald Slocum and Clinton Russell and sister, Sally Papas.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruby Slocum; son, Patrick Slocum and children, Zachery and Ashley; son, Jonathan and wife Michelle Slocum; and daughter, Joanie Slocum, as well as, many nieces and nephews.

Russell served in the US Army from 1962-1963 and enjoyed a 28 year career with IBM before retiring. He continued working in his ‘retirement’ job at Warrior Golf Club in China Grove until late 2016 which he loved immensely. Russell loved wood-working, spending time with his friends, family, grand kids and grand dogs and his passing has left a huge void in their lives.

At Russell's request there will be no public service or memorial. However, the family will receive friends at the home. Please call ahead.
