Ruth Stegall Bost, 89, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012. A memorial service, officiated by, Rev. Dr. Todd Hobbie, will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 70 Union Street, Concord, NC on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall following the service. Ruth was born on December 3, 1922, to the late William W. and Bessie Benton Stegall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus Melvin Bost, Sr. in 2005; four brothers; and a sister. She received her education in the Mt. Pleasant Schools and Evans Business College. Ruth worked for the Concord Telephone Company for seven years, and then moved to Atlanta when her husband, Cletus, was transferred to Atlanta with Ford Motor Company. She worked as a secretary to Dr. George Sessions, Chief of Anesthesiology at Dekalb Memorial Hospital in Decatus, GA, for 18 years. When Cletus retired in 1987, they moved back to Concord and joined First Presbyterian Church, where she served on the church session, served as moderator of the Presbyterian Women, and in 2000 was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the Blanche Stewart Sunday School Class and the Lydia Circle. Ruth was a retired realtor with Allen Tate Co., a member of the Tapestry Book Club, Friends of Cannon Library and the Salvations Women’s Auxiliary. She also volunteered in the Intensive Care Waiting Room at Northeast Medical Center. She is survived by her son, Cletus Melvin Bost, Jr., and his wife, Linda, of Tulsa, OK; and a granddaughter, Christina Bost Seaton and her husband, Michael of Brooklyn, NY; and a brother, Ira Glenn Stegall, of Venice, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 789, Concord, NC 28026. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Bost family.
