Ruth Bratton

Ruth Asleen Polk Bratton, 94, of Charlotte, formerly of Pawley’s Island, S. C., passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Carriage Club in Charlotte. Mrs. Bratton was born March 19, 1918 in Mecklenburg County to the late Henry Bryant Polk and Minnie Lou Stephenson Polk. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jackson (Jack) Bratton in 1991; her daughter, Sylvia Hinson; her great-granddaughter, Lee Griffin; six brothers and one sister. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Sharon Memorial Park, 5400 Monroe Road in Charlotte. Survivors include her grandchildren, Gail Griffin and her husband, Keith, and Carl Whitley and his wife, Kay, all of Monroe; great-grandchildren, Faye Richards and her husband, David, Kelli Whitley, and Ashley Whitley; great-great-grandchild, Emily Richards; her sister, Doris Harkey; and many nieces and nephews Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Bratton family.
