Ruth Drake

Ruth Mildred Rushing Drake, 91 years of age, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Lawyers Glenn Assisted Living in Mint Hill. Mrs. Drake was born March 5, 1921 in Union County to the late Henry Ellis Rushing and the late Beadie Emaline Mullis Rushing. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Baxter Caldwell Drake, in September of 2000; her son, Joe Neal Drake in 2009; three brothers and seven sisters. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Midland officiated by Rev. Brent Carpenter. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery at 3601 Sikes Mill Road, Monroe. Survivors include her daughters, Penny Love and her husband, Lanard, of Monroe and Elaine Black and her husband, John, of Marshville; her sons, Robert and Keith Drake of Monroe and Randy Drake of Charlotte; her daughter-in-law Millie Drake of Monroe; 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
