Ruth Drye

October 6, 1917 — March 10, 2016

Ruth Elizabeth Pless Drye, 98 years of age, of Denver, NC passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Wexford House in Denver.

"Mama Ruth" was born October 6, 1917 in North Carolina to the late Whit Pless and the late Maggie Stirewalt Pless. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James "Andy" Drye; her daughter Doris Rimer; as well as her brothers Glenn, Howard, Mack and Fred Pless.

Survivors include her daughter, Hazel Wright and husband, Don of Denver, NC; grandchildren, Kay Measmer and husband, Ronnie of Concord, Crystal Cox and husband, Vernon of Raleigh, NC, Donna Revis and husband, Rodney of Catawba, SC; as well as four great grandchildren.

"Mama Ruth" was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. She was a talented homemaker, seamstress, cook and gardener of vegetables and flowers. She was employed by Cannon Mills for 47 years. The family would like to extend a special thank you to our Hospice family of Lincoln County, who provided much love and tender care for over a year and a half. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 13 at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by Pastor, Lonnie Karriker. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, NC.

Memorials may be made to Cold Water Lutheran Church, 1725 Gold Hill Road, Concord, NC 28025; Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 North Cedar St., Lincolnton, NC 28092; or a charity of your choice.
