Ruth Maxwell Linker Foster, 96, of Concord, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 5, 2012. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her or who came in contact with her. She loved everyone. She loved playing the piano for Southern Pines Baptist Church, which she was a member of. She enjoyed crocheting doll dresses and afghans. She loved her little dog Molly who has passed. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was loved by everyone who met her. She was known as Granny to all. Mrs. Foster retired from Tuscarora Yarns in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend James Shoemaker, will be held in the Hartsell Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. Ruth was born on September 4, 1915, to the late Frank Levi Maxwell and the late Lizzy Emma Black Maxwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Raymond Linker, Sr. in 1972; her second husband, Johnnie Purgon Foster in 1998; a son-in-law, Fred Douglas Carpenter in 2005; four brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by a son, Raymond Junior Linker and his wife Virginia of Mt. Pleasant, a daughter, Elizabeth Linker Carpenter of Concord; three grandchildren, Timothy S. Corbett of Salisbury, Johnny Preasley of Mt. Pleasant and Shiella Davis of Gold Hill; two great-grandchildren, Ali and Johnathon; her loving sister-in-law, Ruth B. Foster; nine step-grandchildren; and many step-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to her step-granddaughter, Nita Benton (she called her Baby) who was her in home care provider and to her special friend Frankie Faggart.
