Ruth Harris

Ruth Eugenia Beasley Harris, 85, of 1320 Rosehill Court, Concord, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at CMC-Northeast. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM on Wednesday, November 4, in the parlor at First Baptist Church, where she was a member. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM at the church with the Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will be meeting at the home of her daughter, Kathy Stancil at 4220 Fringewood Drive, Concord. Born May 11, 1924, Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Lee Irvin Beasley and the late Sally Ann Camp Beasley. She was a graduate of Concord High School and a retired operator at Concord Telephone Company. She was active in the Concord Telephone retiree club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vaude Smoot Harris, Jr. and step-daughter Brenda Kay Cochran. Survivors include her son, Chip Harris and wife, Freida, of Harrisburg; daughter Kathy Stancil and husband, Dexter, of Concord; sisters Sara Gibson of Concord and Pat Holder of Indian Trail; seven grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
