Ruth Carol Meggs, 84 years of age, of Marshville, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015.
Carol was born October 2, 1931 in Union County to the late H. Brice Griffin and the late Mary Jane Griffin.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Frank Meggs; and grandson, Wesley Hartsell.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Monday, December 7, 2015 at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at Mt. Moriah officiated by Rev. Robert Kimrey. Burial will immediately follow at the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Steve) Gallaher of Denver; daughter, Betty (Sonny) Hartsell of Locust; brothers, Larry Griffin of Indian Trail, Arnold Griffin of Wilmington, Robbie Griffin of Marshville; sister, Mattie Carpenter of New Salem; grandsons, Jeremy (Kristy) Mabe of Fort Mill, SC; Jay (Heather) Hartsell, III of Locust; Grant (Erin) Hartsell of Locust, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Carol was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a devoted church member, where she played the piano for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Methodist Church, 6722 Hwy. 218, Marshville, NC 28103.
