Ruth Smith

Ruth Aleen Blake Smith, 86 years of age, of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, May 14, 2015 at her home.

Aleen was born February 14, 1929 in Cabarrus County to the late George Banks Blake and the late Margie Mae Hartsell Blake. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Eugene Smith in 1998; daughter, Vickie Sprinkle; son-in-law, Daniel Sprinkle; brothers, Walter Lee Blake and John Carlton Blake.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 25, 2015, with a 30 minute state prior to the service, at St. Stephens Wesleyan Church, officiated by Pastor Gary Morris and Pastor Tim Clark. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will be gathering at the home of her son, Dennis Smith, 6280 County Line Rd. in Mt. Pleasant.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Smith and wife Pat of Mt. Pleasant; daughters, Delinda Huneycutt and husband Donnie of Oakboro, Gail Whitley and husband Kelly of Mt. Pleasant, Wendy Martin and husband Chris of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Halee Clontz, Wesley Huneycutt, Hannah Whitley, Jacob Whitley, and Justin Corl; great-granddaughter, Zailynn Corl,; and sisters, Sylvia Lingerfelt and husband James of Albemarle, Betty Page and the late D.W. Page of Midland, Doris Burnette and husband Charles of Oakboro, and Carolyn Blake of Concord.
