S. Motley

S. J. Motley, Jr., 81, of Midland, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Universal Healthcare in Concord. Mr. Motley was born August 14, 1931 in Cabarrus County to the late Samuel Jones Motley, Sr. and Nannie Elizabeth Barr Motley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee Faggart Motley, in 2010. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis as a fixer and was a member of Pine Bluff United Methodist Church of Midland. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Monday, November 26, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Pine Bluff United Methodist Church, with a 30 minute state prior to the service. Rev. Kevin McCormack will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be presented by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. Survivors include his sisters, Edna Biggers of Midland and Margaret Wallace of Harrisburg. Memorials may be made to Pine Bluff United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 485, Midland, NC 28107.
