Sadie Furr

Sadie Marie Yow Furr, 92 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at her daughter's home in Stanfield.

Sadie was born June 16, 1922 in Stanly County to the late Daniel Monroe Yow and the late Eliza Jane Tarlton Yow. She was also preceded in death by husband, James Luther Furr; son, Charles Lee Furr; four sisters; and two brothers.

The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jim White and Rev. Coy Blackman, will be at 1 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Love's Grove United Methodist Church, 4360 Polk Ford Road, Stanfield. She will lie in state for an hour prior to the service. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will be gathering at the home of her daughter, Camilla Hartsell, 8251 Harvell Rd., Stanfield.

She is survived by her daughter, Mille Hartsell of Stanfield; son, J. D. Furr and wife Anne; grandchildren, Jimmy (Danille) Tyree, Scotty (Carla) Tyree, Wendy Furr, Bridgett (Bradley) Jones; six great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and brothers, Ray Yow, and Clayton Yow.

Sadie was a loving, devoted mother and grandmother. She worked for Cannon Mills until retirement. She was a nanny to all the neighborhood kids for many years. Love's Grove UMC was a major part of her life.
