Biography Sallie Lucille Poplin Crowell, 95, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Trinity Oaks Home and Health in Salisbury.
Mrs. Crowell was born May 18, 1921 in Stanly County to the late Claude A. and Garrie Osborne Poplin. She was also preceded in death by husband; Earl Bernard Crowell, stepmother; Emma Jane Howard Poplin; a son, Kenneth B. Crowell; son-in-law, Johnny McCullough; brothers, Claude Poplin Jr, and Firth Poplin; and sister, Virginia P. Furr.
She retired from Stanly Knitting Mill as an Inspector. Lucille was a member of First Baptist Church in Oakboro where she was a greeter.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev.Dr. Terrell Watts. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at the Oakboro cemetery in Oakboro.
She is survived by daughters,Tessie C. McCullough of Raleigh, Tillie C. Hall (David) of Belmont; daughter-in-law, Tamera S. Crowell of Concord; son, C. Michael Crowell (Pam) of Granite Quarry; four grandsons, Scott Crowell (Laura), Brian Crowell (Gaye), David Hall (Lorraine), Matthews Hall (Susan): three grandaughters, Heather M. Harris (Martin), Hope M. Benzinger (Tim), Susan C. Beatty (Rob); nine greatgrandchildren, Hailey, Austin, Andrew, Paige, Mary Louise, Henry, Grant, Parker, Eason, and Loch; brother, Jerry M. Poplin (Margaret) of Charlotte; and sisters, Imogene P. Morton of Candor, and Joanne P. Whitley of Oakboro.
