Samuel Hawfield

Samuel Glenn Hawfield III, of Stanfield, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, January 27, 2019.

Sam was born in Concord to the late S. Glenn Hawfield Jr. and Miriam Long Hawfield.

Sam loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He volunteered at Atrium Medical Center-Northeast and CCM for 7 years. He was a member of Bethel UMC in Midland. He was always eager to bring snacks and help during morning coffee hour. He enjoyed spending time with friends from Concord High School, the “white house” group from NC State, and telling tales with his Vietnam buddies that seemed to get bigger each year.

After graduating from NC State, Sam worked as an engineer for Fieldcrest Cannon for 25 years, for Stanly County, and was a business owner. He proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife Dianne Daniels Hawfield; sons, Clark Hawfield of Concord and Dalton Hawfield of Indian Trail; step children, Nathan Stamey and his wife Laura of Kannapolis and Sharon Fowler and her husband David of Concord; grandchildren Katelynn and Matthew Fowler and Lydia Stamey.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Cabarrus County for their love and kindness during this difficult time. They are an amazing group of people.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Friday, February 1st at Bethel United Methodist Church in Midland. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm officiated by Rev. Mark Clontz. Burial services will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord with military honors.
