Sandra Lynn Sanders Lyall, 69, of Concord, NC, passed away in her home on Thursday, May 24th, 2012. Sandra was born in Mississippi on February 8th, 1943, to the late Robert Leroy Sanders, Jr. and the late Ruby Lynn Izard Sanders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Hayden Lyall. Sandy led an adventurous life. She was the Valedictorian of her high school class. She won multiple beauty pageants, and was especially gifted as a voice soloist and majorette dancer. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in teaching elementary and ESOL that led her to a 40-year teaching career in New York, Texas, Gainesville, Florida and Mexico. Among her many community involvements, she was the regional President for Delta Kappa Gamma, member of Gainesville Civic Chorus, golf coach, yoga instructor and faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She retired in 2008 and moved to Concord to be close to her children and grandchildren. Sandy is survived and will be greatly missed by her four daughters, Mrs. Marianne Lyall-Knusel of Concord, Mrs. Lara Kramer of Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Alessandra Vires of Cary, N.C., Mrs. Stephanie Kelly of Concord, N.C, 9 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Judy Sanders, Mrs. Marilyn Beasley, and many other relatives. The Memorial Service will be held on June 9th, 2012, at the Rocky River Presbyterian Church in Concord, N.C. at 2:00 pm.
