Sara Martin

Sara Rebecca “Becky” Moriarty Martin, 67, of Concord, NC, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011, surrounded by her loving family and friends, at Carolinas Medical Center – Main, Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Martin was born August 19, 1943, in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Paul Moriarty, and mother, Lula Bernice McMullen Moriarty. She graduated from Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse, specializing in newborn nursery care at Carolina's Medical Center for over 40 years. She attended Dulin’s Grove Advent Christian Church. A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, 7:30 p.m., at Dulin’s Grove Advent Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Matt Broadway. The family will receive friends after the service in the Fellowship Hall. At other times, the family will meet at the home. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, James Melvin Martin, of the home; daughters, Debbie Renee Garretson and husband, Rich, of Concord, NC, Julia Alice Proctor and husband, Trent, of Lancaster, SC, and Sandy Christine Martin of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Jake and Willow Garretson, and Michael, Kaylee, and Tia Proctor; and siblings, Dr. John Daniel Moriarty of Carrboro, NC and Mrs. Nannette Eddleton of Montpelier, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dulin’s Grove Advent Christian Church, 11200 Arlington Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28202.
