Sara Kathleen Pickler

Sara Kathleen Pickler, 61, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center in Albemarle.

Sara was born August 22, 1962, in Albemarle to the late Eugene Burns Pickler and the late Janet Wirth Pickler. Sara spent her early life as a resident of Holy Angels in Belmont, NC. As a child she transitioned to O’Berry Center in Goldsboro, NC. Sara returned to Albemarle as an adult to reside in the group home on East Main Street.

Sara always had a smile for those around her and was loved by many. She enjoyed meeting and interacting with new people, going shopping, eating out in restaurants, playing pool, and hanging out at the park.

Sara is survived by her sisters Audrey Barringer of New London and Eva Pickler (Stirling) of Upperville, VA; nieces Rachel Barringer (Saleh) of Durham, NC and Christine Barringer of Richmond, VA; nephew Garrett Barringer (Allyson) of Richfield; great niece Norah; and several cousins.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who cared for Sara over the years at the group home, the staff of Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center, and Hospice of Stanly/Tillery Compassionate Care for their care over the last year. 

A private graveside service will be held at Kendalls Baptist Church, New London.
