Sarah "Betty" Elizabeth Seward Beal, 89, of Concord, NC and formerly of Rowayton, CT passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Pruitt Health in Harrisburg, NC.

Betty was born April 9, 1927 in Santa Monica, CA to the late Edward William Angrave Seward, Sr. and the late Sarah Elizabeth Bellinger Seward. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, James Edwin Beal, who passed away in 1985; and brother, Edward William Angrave Seward, II.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel.

She is survived by her son, Clark Beal and wife Karen of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Somer Flowers, Kelly Beal, both of Concord, Jesse Beal and wife Isabel Bernal of Fort Stewart, GA; great-grandchildren, Seth Beal, Belladonna Flowers, and River Lane Beal; sister-in-law, Ruth Seward of FL; niece, Judy Lilly of FL; great-nephew, Edwin William Angrave Beal, III of Long Island, NY; great great-nephews, James Lilly and Carter Lilly, both of FL.

Betty was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Betty worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service, and retired at the age of 80 after 32 years of dedicated service. She also loved to rug hook. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and could always tell a joke. She lived a full life and will be missed by so many who were blessed to have her in their lives. Betty's memory will always be cherished.
