Sarah Colwell

Sarah B. Colwell “Sally”, age 87 of Greensboro, formerly of Mt. Gilead, passed away on Wednesday, August 08, 2012 at Wesley Long Hospital, Greensboro, NC. A memorial service will held at Christ Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 11 at 3:00 PM, officiated by Father James Bernacki. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory. Mrs. Colwell was born in Bronx County, NY on May 2, 1925, to the late Frank Barber and the late Dorothy Bell Barber. She is survived by two sons, Alan Richards Colwell of Berea, KY and Peter Bell Colwell of Fuquay Varina, NC; two daughters, Peggy Colwell Basinger of Greensboro, NC and Anne Colwell Rhoads of Clarkston, WA; one brother, David Barber; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Memorials may be made to Wesley Long Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, 501 N. Elam Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27403-1199. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Colwell family.
