Sharon M. Fischer Holland, age 87, of Concord, NC, formerly of Harrisburg, NC and East Aurora, NY, was called to her heavenly home on Monday, November 25, 2024.
Sharon was born on September 16, 1937, in Holland, NY, a daughter of the late John J. and Beulah A. (Trank) Fischer. Sharon graduated from Holland Central School in 1955 and was a member of the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing class of 1959. She loved her career as a Registered Nurse and served 23 years as a school nurse in the Iroquois Central School District prior to retiring.
Sharon had a lovely soprano voice and won talent competitions as a child. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and providing encouragement to far-flung family and friends through hand-written notes and cards. She was also known for baking and sharing delicious cookies. Sharon put her faith in Jesus Christ and wrapped those she loved, particularly her grandchildren, in prayer. In her later years, she was a member of Pitts Baptist Church and lived in the Taylor Glen retirement community, where she formed many friendships. Sharon always lived with a spirit of community that brightened her corner of the world.
She is survived by her daughters: Carol Holland-Ess (Randy), Chris Ann Herrera (Cameron), and Cheryl Montross (Bryan); grandchildren: Lee Ann, Renee, and Julia Radwan, Logan, C. Reid, and Grayson Herrera, and Tyler, Ryan (MeiLing), and Joshua (Megan) Montross; great-grandsons: Hayden and Ezekiel Montross; sisters, Joyce Liddle (late Bill), Sheila Knox (late Richard), Cynthia Kuntz (Kenneth); siblings-in-heart, Leonard Dabich (Mary) and Joan Maksymiw; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sharon was also preceded in death by her former husband, James R. Holland; siblings, Gerald “Corky” Fischer (late Margaret “Peg”) and Vicki Barr (late Kermit); and siblings-in-heart, Florence Walker (late Frederick) and Donna Forkl.
If desired, please consider a donation in Sharon's memory to the charity of your choice. And bake cookies for your neighbors.
A private service for the family will be held at a later date.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg is serving the Holland family.
