Shawn Guffey, born and raised in Concord, is survived by his wife of almost 18 years, Amy (Langley) Guffey of Charlotte, his son Brett Guffey of Concord, his father and step-mother Garry and Janice Guffey of Mt. Pleasant, his mother Brenda Hopson of Concord, his sister and her husband, Jennie and Bill Cruse of Concord and his aunt, Annette Strassner of Granite Falls, along with many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He also leaves behind his fur babies, Kobe, Runtie and Booger.
He loved to cook and was grateful to attend Johnson & Wales University and attain his culinary degree at the age of 43, which only added to his love of fine food and drink.
He had many hobbies and was a Jack-of-all-trades, including traveling, visiting vineyards, home brewing, gardening, landscaping, motorcycles and anything automotive. He was the owner of Derita Automotive Repair in Charlotte.
He will be most remembered for being a jokester and for his dry and twisted sense of humor. He would always make every one laugh and loved to laugh.
In lieu of flowers, you may send donations in his name to Mental Health of America Central Carolina at http://www.mhacentralcarolinas.org/donation.cfm.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Guffey family.
