Shelia Mullis

Shelia Jo Talbert Mullis, 67 years of age, of Concord, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

She was born July 7, 1947 in Stanly County to the late Baine Ognar Talbert and the late Beulah Eudy Talbert. She was also preceded in death by son, Shawn Alexander Mullis.

She served as Parish Secretary for over 20 years at St. James Lutheran Church in Concord, NC. She was an active member at McGill Baptist Church since 1986 where she also served as a church officer. She loved to sing in the choir, to play the hand bells, and to volunteer in the nursery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 3:00 pm at McGill Baptist Church in Concord, officiated by Rev. Steve Ayers. Burial will follow at the West Concord Cemetery at 331 Union Cemetery Rd SW, Concord.

Survivors include husband, Samuel Lee Mullis of Concord, NC; daughter, Sarah Jo Mullis Wilson of Concord, NC; son, Samuel Lee Mullis II of Raleigh, NC; 4 grandchildren, Isaac Alexander Mullis, Alexis Jin Mullis, Samuel Lee Mullis III, and Andrew Ray Mullis; sisters, Norma Talbert Almond of Albemarle, NC and Genoal Talbert Hinsdale of Winston-Salem, NC.
