Sherrill Morgan

Sherrill Lavon Morgan, 64 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC. Sherrill was born August 15, 1949 in Stanly County to the late Walter Lester Morgan and the late Vernie Lee Thompson Morgan. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, June 16, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Mark Mabry and his brother, Rev. John Morgan will be at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Canton Baptist Church in Albemarle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery at 24615 Endy Road, Albemarle. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Cheryl Lynn Morgan of Albemarle; son, Ashley Morgan of Albemarle ; daughters, Erica Morgan Steed and husband, Raymond of Stanfield, and Michelle Morgan of New London; brothers, Jim Morgan and wife, Carolyn, of Harrisburg, Rev. John Morgan and wife, Janice, of Albemarle and Mark Morgan and wife, Patsy, of New Bern; grandsons, Jayden and Caleb Steed. Sherrill, a master gardener, also loved golfing and games with his family and anything involving his grandsons. He will be remembered for his generosity, his work ethic, and his love for his children and grandsons. A graduate of West Stanly High School, he previously owned Albemarle Honda and ran for Congress in the 90's. Memorials may be made to Canton Baptist Church, 24615 Endy Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
