Sherrill Ethan Smith, 64 of 40654-B Mountain Creek Road, New London, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at his home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. At other times the family will meet at the home of his daughter, Anita Thompson. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Bethel UMC Church, New London, NC. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Reda Icenhour will officiate. Born October 12, 1947 in Badin, NC, he was a son of the late Ethan Smith and the late Beulah Pauline Chandler Smith. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Cole Smith of the home; daughters, Pamela Anderson of Texas, Anita Thompson and Fallon Smith, both of New London; brother, Jimmy Thomas of New London; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
