Sherry Kay Craig, 70 years of age, of Concord, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at her residence in Concord.
Sherry Kay was born August 7, 1945 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Walter Taylor McClure and Frankie Hough McClure. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Shirle McClure.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 11:00 am at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by Rev. Samuel Case. Following the memorial service the family will greet family and friends at Hartsell Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, John Craig; three daughters, Sharon (Tommy) Thomas of Concord, Teresa (Ronnie) Dietz of Hickory, Kisha (Kirk) Beard of Concord; two sons, John (Heather) Craig Jr. of Tennessee, Jeffrey (Carla) Craig of Concord; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Coubal, Shane (Lisa) Buchanan, Amber (Rick) Clark, Kasey Buchanan, Kaylee Beard, John Craig III, Skyler Griffin and Will Craig; seven great grandchildren, Katelyn Coubal, Haylee Buchanan, Kyrsten Coubal, Kristopher Coubal, Savannah Buchanan, Madison Clark and Colton Clark; one brother, Terry (Nancy) McCLure of Mint Hill; one sister, Sue Morton of Kings Mountain; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sherry Kay worked outside the home many years in a managerial capacity. The past 30 years she has been a homemaker. She had an amazingly close relationship with her spouse, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Honey, Mama, Grandma, Nana, Grannie and Nana G. Outside of enjoying her family time she was an avid Carolina Tarheel Basbetball, Nascar and wrestling fan. Her favorite place to visit was Sunset Beach and where later her family will scatter her ashes as her final resting place.
